Cairo, Egypt – CCCPA organized a basic course on “Strategic Crisis Management", from 26 February-2 March 2017. A course on the same topic took place in January 2017.
The course aims to improve participants’ knowledge on different types of crises and to develop their strategic planning skills for crisis management. The training covered concepts associated with crisis management; the role of crisis managers; basic components of a risk assessment; emergency planning; decision making; key elements of early warning systems; and crisis response. Using scenario-based exercises, participants applied theoretical concepts related to crises to develop a crisis management framework, including crisis preparedness, crisis response and post-crisis evaluation.
Nineteen Egyptian and African diplomats, as well as police and military professionals, joined the five-day training.
The training comes as part of the current UNDP project funded by the Government of Japan, “Consolidating Peace, Security and Stability in Africa - 2016”.
