8th African Standby Force Training Implementation Workshop
21 May 2017
The African Union Commission (AUC), in cooperation with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), organized the 8th African Standby Force (ASF) Training Implementation Workshop (TIW) in Abuja, Nigeria from 25-28 October 2016.
The workshop aimed at coordinating training activities in accordance with the ASF Policy Framework. During the workshop, participants reviewed the 2015/2016 training directives and developed the 2017 training directives. Participants also determined concrete processes that need to be taken into account to enhance the current capabilities of the ASF--this came in line with the recommendations of the Amani Africa II Field Training Exercise After Action Review (AA II FTX AAR) Report and the Draft Maputo Five Year Strategic Work Plan on the Enhancement of the ASF.
CCCPA participated in the workshop along with other AU Training Centers of Excellence as well as representatives from RECs/RMs, AMISOM and APSTA.
