Training on Conflict Analysis and Sensitivity
08 December 2016
Cairo, Egypt - CCCPA delivered a training course on “Conflict Analysis & Sensitivity” from 4-8 December 2016.
The course aims to develop participants’ knowledge and skills on conflict analysis theories and tools as well as conflict sensitive approaches. The training covered the concepts of conflict, violence and peace; an overview of the theories of conflict; early warning indicators of violence and peace; conflict analysis static and dynamic tools; and conflict sensitivity principles. Adopting a ‘learning by doing’ approach, the training provided an opportunity for participants to apply various analysis tools (curve of conflict, stakeholders mapping, conflict tree) on different case studies (Mali, Liberia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia), and to apply conflict sensitivity approaches through group work exercises and role plays.
The five-day training gathered 20 participants from Egypt, Chad, Nigeria, Sudan, South Sudan and Tanzania. The diverse background of the participants, which includes diplomats, research, police and military personnel, brought richness to the discussions and practical exercises.
The training comes as part of the current UNDP project funded by the Government of Japan, “Consolidating Peace, Security and Stability in Africa”.
