CCCPA to Hold its First International Advisory Board Meeting

Cairo, Egypt - CCCPA will hold its first International Advisory Board (IAB) Meeting on August 27, 2015 at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza Hotel in Cairo. The IAB will be responsible for providing strategic counsel on global and regional opportunities and the challenges to peace, security and stability. It will also serve to support the Center's global outreach efforts.The IAB comprises global eminent personalities in the areas of peace, security and development including H.E. Jose Ramos-Horta, former President of Timor Leste; H.E. Amr Moussa, former Secretary-General of the Arab League; H.E. Lakhdar Brahimi, former Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs; H.E. Dr. Sukehiro Hasegawa, former Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Timor Leste; H.E. Rima Khalaf, Executive Secretary-General of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia; H.E. Moushira Khattab, former Egyptian Minister of Family and Population; and H.E. Ambassador Hesham Badr, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Issues and International Security.
The IAB meeting will (i) showcase CCCPA's achievements - across its 20 years of operation - in building African capacities in the areas of peacekeeping and conflict resolution; (ii) highlight the Center's future prospects and opportunities; and (iii) open a discussion on the challenges to peace, security and stability, as well as the evolving nature of peacekeeping and peacebuilding operations.
The IAB is set to meet once a year. The first IAB meeting is being held within the context of the project “Enhancing the Capacity of Local Actors in Efforts to Improve Peace and Stability in North Africa, the Sahel and Great Lakes", implemented by CCCPA in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program and the generous contribution of the Government of Japan.
