Cairo, Egypt – CCCPA in cooperation with the Egyptian Institute for Diplomatic Studies, organized its third training course for Egyptian diplomats on “Facing the Media”, from 23-26 December 2018.
The training aimed to enhance the skills of 33 mid-career Egyptian diplomats on effectively facing the media when conducting TV interviews and press conferences. It is specifically designed to introduce diplomats to the methods and strategies of interaction with the media, including how the media operates, verbal responses and delivering their messages succinctly.
In this regard, training topics covered issues such as preparing invitee lists, press-kits, and techniques of addressing questions (profiling, setting, audience, and key messages).
In addition to the theoretical content, the trainers, who are senior media professionals, conducted mock press conferences and TV interviews on a wide range of topics such as bilateral and multilateral relations. The exercise aimed to enhance the participants’ skills when approaching interviews with the news media.
The training comes as part of the current UNDP project, funded by the Government of Japan, “Consolidating Peace, Security and Stability in Africa IV - 2018-2019”.
