CCCPA received the visit of H.E. Mr. Abdoulaye Diop, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Mali on Monday December 2 to examine opportunities for strengthening cooperation between the Center and Mali in training and capacity building in the field of peace and security.
H.E. Ambassador Ahmed Abdel-Latif, Director General of CCCPA, welcomed the Minister and presented the various programs of the center, and expressed the Centre’s readiness to support Malian institutions and in the fight against terrorism, reflecting Egypt's commitment towards supporting stability and peace in Africa through strengthening the State as well as national institutions and capacities. In that respect, he notably mentioned the training on strengthening the role of religious leaders in preventing radicalization and extremism leading to terrorism, organized in cooperation with the Malian Ministry of Religious Affairs, which took place in Mali in November 2023.
H.E. Minister Abdoulaye Diop praised the efforts of CCCPA as a center of excellence in the field of peace and security. He also expressed his appreciation for the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development, as an African platform to draw lessons learned from the various African experiences in this field in order to advance African-owned solutions to the challenges facing the continent.
Some avenues of cooperation in the field of capacity building were discussed during the visit, particularly in the fields of prevention and the fight against radicalization and extremism leading to terrorism, and peacebuilding.
