CCCPA, represented by Ms. Ingi Rashed, CCCPA Program Lead on Transnational Threats Program participated in the conference organized by KAS on “Current Challenges on Migration in the East Mediterranean Region” during the period (15-18) April, 2024 in Cyprus.
The conference brought together experts from the different offices of KAS as well as representatives from source, transit and destination countries including Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Cyprus, and Greece, for focused discussions on the ramifications of the growing regionalization of migration management and the adverse impacts of irregular migration on peace, security and development in MENA and its neighboring regions.
Participants stressed the centrality of cross-border cooperation to address and prevent irregular migration and the spillover of conflict in the region. Furthermore, they emphasized the importance of effective and sustainable support through partnerships that contribute towards strengthening responses, and prioritizing host and displaced communities’ needs and aspirations.
