The Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA) – in its capacity as the Secretariat of the COP27 Presidency Initiative Climate Responses for Sustaining Peace (CRSP) – is holding a high-level side event at COP28 on the one-year journey of CRSP under the title “Advancing Climate Responses for Sustaining Peace: from Sharm El Sheikh to Dubai and Beyond” on 3 December, 9:00 – 9:45 am at the Egyptian Pavilion, on the dedicated COP28 “Climate, Relief, Recovery and Peace Day”.
This event is an opportunity to bring partners together to reflect on the one-year journey of CRSP, results, lessons learnt and recommendations on integrating a peace-positive approach in climate responses, and on leveraging COP as an inclusive platform that can help advance international cooperation on this important issue.
Following the launch of the COP27 Presidency Initiative Climate Responses for Sustaining Peace (CRSP) in Sharm El-Sheikh and the CRSP Consultation Meeting last March, CCCPA has been working with partners to operationalize CRSP with the aim to connect the climate, peace, and security communities, address knowledge and capacity gaps and catalyze successful examples of targeted policy interventions. In this regard, a range of activities have been undertaken with partners across the climate, peace and security nexus.
This overview captures key highlights of CRSP implementation within the past year, and wish to seize this opportunity to convey our sincere appreciation to all CRSP partners, in particular those with whom we implemented CRSP related activities this year.
