Expert on African Policies and frameworks- Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development
Job Description
CCCPA is recruiting an expert on forced displacement in the African and Arab contexts as well as African Union policies including Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development, to deliver 3 sessions (each 2 hours long) during the training on “Integrating Forced Displacement in Peacebuilding and Post-Conflict, Reconstruction and Development (PCRD) Efforts in: Towards Advancing the Operationalization of the Humanitarian Peace- Development Nexus (HDPN)” scheduled to take place on 24-27 November 2024. The sessions will tackle: 
  1. Introduction to displacement patterns, drivers and dynamics within conflict affected settings. This includes theories and approaches of conflict, and mobility trends.
  2. Best Practices and Lessons Learned on Integrating Gender and Forced Displacement in PCRD Efforts Design and Implementation
  3. Introduction to the African Union’s PCRD Policy, mechanisms and processes, including the Kampala Convention, the Organization of African Unity (OAU) Refugee Convention, rationale, principles, objectives, success indicators.
  4. Patterns, Drivers and Dynamics: Evolution of armed conflict (traditional vs modern; characteristics, drivers and trends
The process will take place in coordination with CCCPA’s Transnational Threats (TNT) and Peacebuilding Teams.  
Job Qualifications:
Education
PhD degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Conflict Studies, or another related field.  

Work Experience
Minimum of 7 to 9 years of experience within the government, academia or development sector with a focus on PCRD policies, and/or displacement.  Experience in capacity building/training is preferrable.   

Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Solid knowledge of the interlinkages between Conflict, forced displacement, climate, and development within the African continent as well as the implications on regional peace and security across the continent and cross continents. 
  • Solid Knowledge of integration mechanisms, and the multidimensional social cohesion mechanisms within displaced and host communities.    
  • Excellent delivery skills. 
Languages
English language proficiency is required.   

Institutional Arrangement  
  • The Expert shall perform his/her tasks in close coordination with the CCCPA Transnational Threats.   
  • The Expert is required to keep in close contact with CCCPA on a regular basis and whenever needed throughout the assignment.  
  • In the event of any changes, the Expert will inform CCCPA promptly to allow decisions, modifications to the timeline and remedial action to be taken accordingly.
